Vacancy Announcement @ LI-BIRD, Nepal

LOCAL INITIATIVES FOR BIODIVERSITY, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (LI-BIRD) is a Pokhara-based non-profit making Non Governmental Organization working for research and development in the field of agriculture, biodiversity and natural resource management. It is committed to capitalise on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improved livelihood of people in Nepal through participatory research and development programmes. Applications are invited from qualified Nepali citizens for the following positions.

1. PROJECT OFFICER (Level 6) – 2
Qualification, competences and requirements
• Bachelor degree in Agriculture or equivalent degree from recognized university preferably with horticulture elective (Required No.-1, Khotang based), Masters Degree in Agriculture from recognized university with Plant Breeding or Agronomy as specialization (Required No.-1, Jhapa based)
• Working experience in relevant fields;
• Ability and willingness to work in the field and coordinate with partner organisations;
• Willingness to work in remote villages with poor and disadvantaged groups;
• Computer literate and excellent interpersonal skills with proven written and spoken English.


3. Technical Assistants (Level 3 to 4) – 3
Qualification, competences and requirements
• Minimum Intermediate in Agriculture or JT/ JTA course from recognized institute with plant science major;
• Field experience in working with farming community in the relevant discipline;
• Skill and experience in social mobilisation and communication;
• Willingness to work in remote villages with poor and disadvantaged groups.
