Senior Researcher Position in Climate and Energy Economics Research Programme on Climate Change and Sustainable Development

FEEM, a leading research institute on sustainable development (www.feem.it) is looking to recruit a motivated and talented senior researcher to cover an open position within the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Research Programme.
The applicant would join a team that is engaged in analysing a wide range of issues about climate and energy economics, such as economic modelling of climate and energy policies, technological progress in the context of energy technologies, socio-economic drivers of energy demand in developing economies, the relation between energy and development, the functioning of global energy markets etc.
In particular the candidate should carry out innovative research that couples economic activity and climate change. This would require interdisciplinary analysis and methods which allow capturing the interaction between economic and climate modelling. Examples of potential approaches include model of complex systems such as agent based modelling of dynamic systems, or spatial and geophysically based modelling.

Requirements
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in economics or in science coupled with some economic background. Experience in modelling complex phenomena using both analytical and numerical methods is required.

The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different nationalities, and have the chance to present scientific papers at several conferences and workshops. FEEM offers a truly interdisciplinary workplace, with strong ties with a world-wide network of research institutions engaged in environmental research and in particular on the analysis of climate change issues.

The successful candidate is expected to begin his/her assignment in 2012. The appointment period can be up to 3 years, with an evaluation after the first one. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience. Duties will be carried out at the FEEM premises either in Milan or Venice, Italy.
