Comparative Water Law Short Course/Tour in the Netherlands May 22-27, 2011

Comparative Water Law Short Course/Tour in the Netherlands
May 22 - May 27, 2011

The LL.M. Program in Environmental Sustainability is offering a short course on Comparative Water Law in the Netherlands the week before commencement of the law school’s Summer-in-Spain program in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The course (May 22 - May 27, 2011) will examine water management for a nation below sea-level, including visits to dykes, surge barriers, and windmills as well as environmental innovations in this progressive nation (“green” buildings, expansion of the Port of Rotterdam). The situation in the Netherlands will be compared and contrasted with Florida, particularly South Florida. The costs of the tour is $1,000 (including room and board but not including transportation to the Netherlands), but enrollment is limited to 35 students.  Arrangements to receive law school credit (one credit) for the experience may be made through Professor Light, Director of the LL.M. Program in Environmental Sustainability. Students wishing to participate should contact Professor Light as soon as possible. The course is open to all St. Thomas J.D. students, whether or not they are participating in the Summer-in-Spain program.
