Belpasso International Summer School on Environmental and Resource Economics The Department of Agri-food and Environmental Systems Management (DiGeSA) at the University of Catania, in cooperation with the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and with the support of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), organise the Belpasso International Summer School on Environmental and Resource Economics.
The 2013 Summer School will take place from the 1st to the 7th of September in Belpasso, a city in the Province of Catania, Sicily, Italy. The theme of this Summer School is "Frontiers in Economics of Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction - Financing Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation".
The School will bring together researchers and policy experts from the disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) fields, to learn about and discuss the advantages and pitfalls of economic and financial policy instruments that serve both purposes, and to share experience and lessons learned. Dr. Jaroslav Mysiak, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei and Euro Mediterranean Center for Climate Change Economic policy instruments for flood risk management ADMISSION AND SCHOLARSHIPS The Summer School is targeted to doctoral and post-doctoral students. Admission is conditional on the presentation by each student of his/her doctoral work; therefore PhD students who want to apply need to be advanced in their PhD and need to have written at least one substantive chapter. It is not necessary that PhD applicants have completely finished their thesis.
Application is restricted to 2013 EAERE members, both European and Non-European citizens. Given the highly interactive activities planned at the Summer School, the number of participants is limited to 20.
